Wow! July is extremely exciting because this is the month for our move to Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Gulfport! It is such a beautiful and inspiring place. I give God great praise for allowing me the chance to enjoy working there.
My stage in life is such that my children and some friends are saying to me, “Why don’t you retire? You deserve it.” My response is that I am so grateful to be able to continue teaching this wondrous information to as many as possible. My question is, “how can it be that I deserve to enlighten so many wonderful people?”
Now, I can also ask, “what did I ever do to deserve to be able to work in such a glorious place”?
This is not work for me. This is a blessing. When I get that question about retiring, I always think of the story about a man watching a young girl walking on the beach after a horrific storm. The beach was littered with sea creatures, dead and alive. She would stop frequently and pick up a distressed creature and toss it back into the water. He watched this for a while and finally approached the child and said to her, “Look at all this devastation! How in this world do you think that you can make a difference?” The girl looked at him for a moment, then bent down, picked up a struggling starfish, threw it back into the water and said, “I made a difference for that one!”
That is my thought. If there is anyone person for whom this knowledge can make a difference, I want to share it with them. So, as long as God allows me this ability, I will rejoice in it.
You, too, are God’s instruments in helping to provide me with the education, materials and now this pristine environment so that I can reach out to many more and to give them this knowledge. That is the way that I can make a difference, “one at a time.”
The St. Gianna Center has allowed me to make that difference for 1,151 people since 1988, and I pray that God will allow us to continue to make that difference for many more.
